Getting a remanufactured engine for a my 2000 cherokee sport and want to make sure I get something that will last. Do they (rebuilders) use a different head than the stock part that comes with the jeep or are they the same. What I am looking for is what part number to look for when reviewing engines and deciding on who to go with. Any suggestions on good engines welcome. Thanks and have a great day.

You send in your core and they rebuild that one and send it to someone else... and the cycle continues... usually.

With this said, they usually re-use the previous head and rebuild it.

Sometime they will ship you a 92 engine or a 94 or a 2001! you never know until it gets there...

It doesn't hurt to call and ask!

Here are two very reputable suppliers to many unfortunate 0331 head owners.

1. Clearwater Cylinder Head

2. Alabama Cylinder Head

Both use a redesigned head, so no worries about that weak spot between cylinders 3-4.

Their warranties vary a bit, but both heads are top notch, as well as their service.

Google them.
