"Jeep egg" Found
So I found the so called "Jeep Egg" in the front bumper area. It was broken from where its suppose to attatch and has a small hole in it, about the size of a dime. I know it has something to do with vaccuum. For a temporary fix I just stuck electrical tape over the hole and shoved it back up inside the bumper area. I took a quick look at it and I couldnt see how the vaccuum lines came off of the "egg". My Jeep didnt seem to run poorly with the hole in that canister and I saw no change after I taped the hole. How crucial is that and should I replace it or just patch the hole with somethig more perminant that electrical tape?
Thanks for any advice.

yeah I'm sure I will replace it at some point. Right now I'm more worried about making sure my trans is not going to blow up. Going to drain the oil, trans oil, replace the front and rear differential gaskets and oil.
I am not super mechanicaly inclined but I am forcing myself to learn because of the Jeep. Funny thing. I never had any real interest in mechanics until now...strange addiction.

If that hole was in one of the ends, thats where the fitting is supposed to be. It is broken out. That's why you don't see any vacuum lines; they are probably stuffed up into the engine compartment now (or cut off).
Buy a new cannister and properly attach the lines. It is all there for a purpose.

the "egg" in the bumper is a vacuum canister for the cruise control on a '96 and later if equipped. Not so sure about the newer ones. But if it's located in the front passenger side of the vehicle then it's definitly for the cruise.
