Default Jeep dies when turning left...

Weird thing happening lately, when I turn left sharply or sweeping my jeep shudders and sometimes dies alltogether. I can add lotsa gas pedal and power through the shudder but that is not the answer. If it dies I can flip it in Neutral, hit the key and it starts right up. It also seems to shudder on washboard gravel roads and similar bumps. The tach drops to nil for a split second and regains rpm's. The battery charge guage doesnt move so I assume there is no electrical short occuring. But why only left turns and bumps? I has never done it turning right, ever. Any insight would be awesome.

Thanks CF,

Jared.

The fuel pickup hose may be coming loose from the pump (or something like that), I think its a common problem. Definately sounds like a fuel problem though

Have you not checked the thread you started earlier. Double posting clogs up the forum.

That sounds like an tank internal problem correct? I believe the fuel pump to be an original part. The jeep has 230,000 miles on it. Might be a good place to start. Gotta burn this tank before any investigation begins.

Any other ideas?

Thanks guys. Definatly going to do a fuel pump replacement. Looked it over last night,(tank) and found a wooden doorstop wedged loosely between the tank and body. Above the tank. Now I know thats not factory. Tank does move with some effort. I have been under the jeep lots and never noticed that before. I will post a pic later today. Off to work now though.

Hey all. Not sure if this will be any help. But i had a ford f150 that had similar issues. It would stall on the same sweeping left hand turn almost all the time. It turned out that the fuel pump relay wire going to the battery was corroded(turning left pulled it apart enough to shut the pump off!) Was a common problem on Fords, not sure about Jeeps tho...

Default 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

My Jeep has now shut down 3 times in the last month during a left turn only. at different speeds but always while turning left!! Once your wrestle the car to a stop you can restart immediately and continue on as if nothing had happened. Freaked me out the first 2 times as I was on a country road and doing about 50 miles an hour. Lucking no other cars where coming and I managed to get off the road.
Must be an electrical problem yes??
Ideas guys??

regards
John
