Jeep cherokee won't go where I want it to
Could anybody give me an idea as to why my 2004 crd wanders,
And when I turn a corner it seems to push the near side front round the corner,
As if it has locked up.
It's almost as if the front end is not attached to the car, there is also a lot of road noise.
Regards
Steve

Lifted? What tires? Any recent suspension work? Sounds like track bar but thats a total shot in the dark without some more info. Road noise could be tires cupped, to much air pressure, could be wheel bearings. Check thetire pressure and adjust accordingly to 30ish psi...visually inspect tire tread note any tread wear that looks like its wearing on everyother tread block. Then jack it up and check wheel bearings for play, spin the tires and listen/feel for roughness. Thats all i got for road noise.

Can you tell us exactly what the vehicle is please? None of the XJs had a CRD so is this a KJ (branded Liberty in North America) or a WJ (Grand Cherokee)?
slk88cherokee's suggestions are good. On any vehicle it really amounts to "crawl underneath and find loose things"

Hi
I believe in a America it's called a liberty,
Over here it's the cherokee extreme sport I've only used the 4lo once just to get out of a muddy field, other than that I've used full time 4wd in ice and snow other than that its always in the 2 wheel drive.
I'm going to jack it up at the weekend to check all of the front end.

Ah, good times. To be honest I'm jealous of your diesel Jeeps over there. Sorry if I came across as snarky, with how badly Chrysler messed up branding it's really better to refer to the Jeep lines by using their actual vehicle codes. (Cherokee could mean one of 6 vehicles from 1974 to 2013, Wrangler could be from 1987-2013)
The KJ doesn't have the same front axle or steering as the XJs do but the idea of finding things that move that aren't supposed to move is the same. This site seems to have a ton of good info on KJs: http://www.lostjeeps.com/
