HELLO FORUM I just purchased the 1998 jeep Cherokee sport does any one know where i can purchase a overhead console or something close to it there is no storage in this truck THANK YOU TOM

 

I throw everything in my center concole. This seems to be a common problem with cherokees. I found these. Though not overhead, still storage.

You can get a post 96 overhead console and mount it on your 98.

Possibly a lucky find at a junkyard. Or try looking at part outs. Plenty of 'em there.

 

I would start by looking at the JY, if that fails then start the search with craigslist.

i would love to do an over head center console sense i know longer need the factory alarm sensor thing. how hard would it be to install? should i take the headliner from the XJ i took it from so i dont have to hack mine up? SORRY NOT STEALING YOUR THREAD

All pre 96 consoles will fit in pre 96 XJs and post 96 consoles will fit in post 96 XJs. Simple concept. The body style changed at 96 and thus the interiors also changed. The same can be said for many XJ things, Hatches and tail-lights, roof racks and center consoles...........you get the drift here.
There were three separate and distinct XJ periods 87-90, 90-96 and post 96 to the end of production. Generally that is the breakdown. There are numerous exceptions so don't flood me with the "but mine has a pre 96 widget and it's a 99" THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS not to mention what the PO did to it before you got your hands on it.

yea the best place is junk yard and don't gir get the wiring to I'm going to do that too throw some paint on it and screw it up wire it and yourgooD to go
