I have a 1992 jeep cherokee, can I make 1998 cherokee seats fit. I heard you have to change the seat brackets.

 

MOST jeep seats mount to their bases with 4 nuts on studs welded to the seat tracks. Therefore just about any jeep seat will fit any vehicle as long as you use the original seat base, and it doesn't matter if it's power or not. The driver's seat in my WJ collapsed on the door side cushion. I went to the junkyard and grabbed an XJ seat. An old camel colored vinyl seat, and it fit my base tracks. What I need to do now is get a nice pair from a 99 or newer XJ and swap them in. They fit my fat *** better than the WJ buckets do. I say MOST because I doubt the old CJ seats would fit. They are specific for sides though because the bolt holes are offset to clear the console. The You Pull/You Save near me only charges $15 each + $2 core charge for ANY seat, even leather! Nobody brings the cores back!
