Default Jeep Cherokee Has Rough Acceleration

I have a 1991 Jeep Cherokee (6 cylinder) with about 145,000 miles. A few weeks ago I noticed that the engine seems to miss when I try to accelerate, particularly at speeds above 35 mph. The car starts reliably and runs and idles smooth otherwise. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the cause of this problem?

Post in the cherokee chat not the grand cherokee chat for help that is more appropriate.

When is the last time you did a tune up, plugs, wires, rotor, distributer cap. Maybe even a new coil. Also is it fuel injected or carbuerated? New air filter never hurts. I would do all of teh above before you start looking at more serious items. Basic tune up is always a good starting point.

check the cat. if the cat is plugged, you will lose power under acceleration, from not having proper exhaust
