find someone parting out a running xj. test out the t-case. offer the guy 100 bucks for it and pull it.

 

ok. All the junk parys are asking way too much for NP231s. They range from $450 (ya. Not a typo) to $250. All used. found a guy on craigslist that is selling one for $150. here is the catch. he is over 2 hours away. what are some questions i should ask so i dont waste my time?

 

How many miles does it have on it?
Was the fluid changed regularly?
Was it operational when it was installed?

Bring a little telescopic magnet with you as well as a wrench set and a 3/8" allen socket so you can pry around in there w/ the magnet and look for big metal shavings...
