jack placement for control arm bushing replacement
Hello everyone,
I have a 01 jeep Cherokee xj 4 wheel drive. I am fighting death wobble and want to replace my upper and lower control arm bushings. I'm sorry for a such a simple question but where should I place my jackstands to make the removal the easiest? I wasn't sure if raising from the axle is keeping a load on the suspension or if I go from the body and let the suspension hang. Thanks for any advice. Tim

Put the stands on the unibody rails, as close to the front as you can. If you have more than one set it doesn't hurt to put some under the axle as well, at least on the side you're working on.

Like he said, on the unibody rails as far forward as you can put them (right behind the lower control arm). Just did mine recently, and thats where i put the jack stands

Might wanna just replace whole arm if your still stock height. Save a lot of time without having to remove old and install new bushings as long as axle is supported with weight of vechicle. Rock Auto sells them pretty decent prices from Dorman.

Do not buy the arms from eBay! They are cheaply made and won't last. They also make the handling feel goofy because the arms flex so much. Doorman and Moog from Rockauto will work great.
