Intermediate Axle Bushing replacement
I recently put a vacuum disconnect axle in my 1998 XJ for the 4.10 gears. It also came with a Posi lock. After installing the posi lock and adjusting it several times the selector collar would randomly pop off of the intermediate axle shaft while driving, knocking it out of 4wd. I contacted Posi lock tech support who said my intermediate axle shaft bushing is most likely shot and it would need to be replaced. Does anyone have a write up on the bushing replacement? Is it done just like the axle seals? Hammer out the old and hammer in the new?
If it is too much of a pain I will get a one piece shaft although $15 for the intermediate axle bushing is cheaper then a one piece axle shaft and new seal.
