did a few searches and cant find anything on it.
my interior lights have randomly been going on and off like a door is open, also my radio randomly goes on and off but at separate times of the lights. and i occasionally get the no bus code and loose the gauges. plan on doing the new connector to fix the no bus and while im taking apart the dash it would be nice to try to fix the radio and especially the lights. its the most annoying thing ever having the interior lights on and off flashing while driving at night and its a good excuse to get pulled over. any ideas?

I had a similar problem. One of the switches in the door jamb (my passenger door) was grounding out.... I chased it down one switch at a time then unscrewed it and kinda adjusted it until it worked properly. If there are more then one switch causing the problem you may need more people so you are able to push em simultaneously. Oh ya... When I got my xj I had some serious wiring issues. Radio, gauges and interior lights were three separate problems for me. I opened up the dash and pulled the radio and fixed em one at a time.

I actually had this happen too:
This winter I was out snowblowing and I noticed the interior light/lights were on. I opened the door, looked around, etc., and shut it. They went off and I went back to snowblowing. Noticed a bit later they were on again. Thought it was odd so I got the keyless entry lock and unlocked/locked. Lights went out. Watched it and 2 minutes later they came on again. After snowblowing for 3 hours and it being 10pm, I was NOT in the mood so I pulled the bulb from the front main light, between the seats. No problems since.....other than having no light there. Not sure what was going on but I kind of forgot about it and put it off. Ill be looking into it when I have some more time on my hands, hopefully in the next week or two.

IF I REMEMBER correctly the plug for the antenna was grounding out on something around the 90degree bend which shorted out the radio. The door jamb switch was also grounding out intermittently. I loosened the nut and moved the switch out away from its seat. Play with it. Mine was contacting with the door closed and just needed to push in a little farther.

haha thats funny last night i did the same thing and ripped out the bulb, my friend was looking at me like i was absolutely insane haha. still annoying with the side and rear interior lights coming on though. also i will have the look into the antenna plug thing, i have a new pioneer head unit that i installed myself so i check all my connections between the power and grounds, all are fine and my speakers all still work fine so its not my crimped connectors that are doing it. im thinking its either a bad ground (my jeep is pretty rusty because its originally from ohio) or another short, both my front speakers didnt work even with the new head unit so i just ran some speaker wire from the speakers through the door and to the head unit. also on my original paper (the thing that says like mpg and then all the extras that the dealerships put in the windows of cars) it says that i have the sport package which comes with keyless entry, but i just have 3 keys that have a thick black rubber coating that says jeep on it. any chance this could be part of the problem?

Dude of course. I think I was over thinking cause of my experience. Is your radio completely turning off? Like no juice at all?? If your dash lights turn off your radio turns off and your lights are doing that (and you have keyless entry which may put the lights on a courtesy timer) you may be losing power completely which would definitely point to ground problems. I would definitely locate and clean the grounds interior and engine. I did that also. Our vehicles hag kinda weak grounds and if its rusty pike you said u probably should do that regardless of your trouble. Give that a shot.

i loose the radio power completely, completely shuts off and my amp for my subs also turns off which means the radio is how it would be with the key out of the ignition. i unfortunantly dont have the key less entry but acording to my original thing that came with the jeep it is equipped with it. i have finals this week so maybe Friday afternoon ill find the ground, take it off and sand with some 220 grit, or maybe just run the ground all the way to the battery depending on how rusted the ground is.
