I have a 97 xj and I have a cracked intake manifold. Trying to figure out what years are the same. I google and only got 99+ swap info.

Thank you

96-98 are the same. The 91-95 look the same as the 96-98, but the power steering pump bracket is different. A 99+ would be an easy swap on a 97.

You can use Grand Cherokee intakes and Wrangler intakes too.

I was in Tybee over the weekend. I could have brought you one. You need to look for a WJ (99-04) if you are wanting the better intake.

Well found a 99 grand cherokee at the local cash n carry. Going this weekend to pick it up.
Am I going to have to dent my exhaust/trim the manifold or is this 100% bolt on for my 97?

Thanks for the help

The link below should be enough "'99 up intake manifold on a '98 down motor" reading to keep u up most of the night.

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/99-...-27075/index6/

Chassis dynos and butt dynos r 2 different things as well as comparing the bolting up of a manifold only up to a stock motor and bolting up a manifold to a modified motor. Butt dynos have never ever fudged......even just a little, or have they? Every "Ronnie Racer" out there will tell u a new manifold with a 2" spacer under the carb will give your muscle car more power. The facts r, a chassis dyno will prove "Ronnie Racer" advise wrong 99 times out of a hundred.

If the above link isn't enough to confuse u, enter "99+ intake manifold" in the "search function" and u'll see plenty more links to read. Just be willing to honestly separate/compare butt dyno info/bs from actual chassis dyno info/fact and try to compare apples-2-apples, not apples-2-oranges if considering the '99+ "intake only" swap to a '98 down motor. Hint - taking a somewhat highly modified 4.0L motor (linked in the thread) and installing a '99+ plus intake on it AND claiming the performance improvement was "all in the '99+ manifold vs a totally stock 4.0L motor with the '99+ manifold installed is about as apples-2-oranges comparison as u can get. Just read and ask yourself......"self, is the butt dyno info as reliable as the chassis dyno info?" If u do that, your decision which way to go will at least be based upon educated/factual info, not on someone's opinionated info.
