Default Installing Speedo Gear

ok so today I swapped in the new AW4 and junked the bad one.

I also installed a new 29 tooth speedo gear. everything is working except the speedo now.

I thought I had it all lined up but apparently not. I am getting no reading on the speedo at all.

What do I line the number range up with to be sure it is aligned? I see three diff ranges of numbers on the black part the gear snaps in to...but how do I know it is aligned properly with the gear in the housing?

Thanks!

this is on a 96 XJ. 4.0 4WD.

going to go get my Jeep this morning. think ill try and correct speedo before driving home. dont want to shear any teeth off the new gear...though I think my gear isnt even touching so it shouldnt be an issue.
