Cool thanks, are stock car speakers coaxial? In other words, will I have to do any re-wiring at all to install new speakers if they are simply running from the head unit? Or just a simple remove old and put in new?

6.5"s fit in the doors just pushes the bottom of the door panel a lil bit

Another quick question: is it possible, on a 4 channel amp, to power 2 speakers, and also bridge the other 2 channels for a sub? Or can you only bridge all the channels together?

Stock car speakers are different for each kind of car. Some have coaxial or triaxial, some have Bose speakers as stock, some have garbage, which is what your Cherokee has as stock. The stock speakers in our version of Cherokees have a main cone made out of paper, and a "whizzer cone" also made out of paper. While they have two cones, they are technically not coaxial as the are driven of of one voice coil.

As I explained in my previous post, you will not have to do any rewiring. Whether you get coaxial (AKA 2-way) or triaxial (AKA 3-way( speakers, it will be a simple process of hooking up two wires to each speaker

I already told you what would fit in a previous post of mine on this thread. Your 99 is the same as my 98 as far as the stereo is concerned, so take heed of what I'm telling you so you don't have to reinvent the wheel.

Whether or not you can bridge one pair of channels on a 4 channel amp is dependent upon the brand and model of your amp. Some can, some can't. But keep this in mind... It sounds like you are concerned about having to do a lot of re-wiring. If you choose to use and amp to power your door speakers, you WILL end up having to do a lot of frustrating, time-consuming wiring. And don't take this the wrong way, but based on the questions you have been asking, I'd say that falls outside of your skill set at this point. You're much better off right now to just run your door and rear speakers of the head unit and make use of the wiring that is already in place. Even though I know what I'm doing and have installed well over 100 systems in cars, I don't feel that in a Cherokee it is necessary to go to all that trouble. The stock wiring will handle up to about 40-60 watts per channel without issue, and a decent stereo putting out 17-25 watts per channel will push the door and rear speakers just fine. Just get a simple 2 channel amp that can be bridged, and use it to power a single sub.

I'd get a monoblock over a bridged two channel for the sub.

Agreed. But since he's on a budget I just suggested a bridgeable amp, as he'll be able to choose from a larger selection at most of the retail outlets and probably save some money over buying a monoblock. I don't think he's going to be entering any car audio competitions anytime soon.

It really depends on his sub's specs on whether he'll save money by buying a two channel or monoblock.

What sub do you have OP?

Don't actually have one yet, looking for a 10" shallow mount for under $100. Any suggestions?

I really don't understand why so many people flock to Crotchfeel when it comes to stereo stuff. They are the Best Buy of the online stereo world. Granted, they are good to get some reviews, general stereo information, and technical details. But their selection isn't that great and I've never been impressed with their prices.

Try Amazon! Seriously! If you don't shop at Amazon, you're missing out. I spend about $12,000 a year with them for work stuff, and about $2500 a year on personal purchases.

I have the 6.5 version of the 2 subs above, and it performs very well.

Haha nice i just mentioned that 10 kicker, I think that’s the one! It has a 4.25" mounting depth, would this work for the XJ cubby space? I would like to put the plastic panel back OVER the box, so in order to do that I can't have it sticking out anymore than it normally does.

I would still like to know, however what people have against this Boss sub. Seems like its got legit reviews.

They are a factory authorized dealer. So warranties basically. However, I buy car audio stuff from onlinecarstereo and woofersetc because Crutchfield prices are terrible. I sent him that link so he could find what he wanted and then go elsewhere for a good price. Most sites don't let you see all the shallow mount subs at the same time and its hard to even search for them if you don't have some idea of what you're looking for...
