I have a 4 door 96 and the OEM door handle quick working, the spring came loose. Someone said order a new one and I did. I got the first one in and everything worked before I had it all tightened up, then as I was lightly tightening it down the bolt snapped. So I ordered another one and then another and then another from Amazon of course and returned the ones until I got the right one. The right one has a red plastic tab that connects to the bar that goes down to the locking mechanism. This one seems to make sense since the green one for the other side wouldn't be able to connect properly. I pulled the NEW red plastic tabbed one off the door to check if it worked and it moves freely but when I connect it back onto the door, it won't move. I tried unlocking and locking the door and even using the inside door handle but it seems those are two different bars that do to the locking latch mechanism.

 

Can you manipulate your door latch indepently from the inner and out door handles to work correctly? If not then I would remove the door latch and inspect that closer?

I have the Amazon 96/older handles on my MJ and they work great
