Injector O rings-all the same?

Default Injector O rings-all the same?

'94 XJ, 4.0- since I was replacing the intake/exhaust manifold gasket I decided to replace the injector O rings too. Go to put injectors in and they don't want to seat either in the fuel rail nor the intake. Lubed them up a little but still not seating. Are all O rings the same? Got mine at Advance.

They're all the same on my '98. What did you use for lube? I used a little clean engine oil and it worked fine.

I used a little motor oil. What I meant by "all the same" is would it make a difference where I bought them.

Injector O-rings are one of those funny things - if they fit the injectors, they should fit properly.

However, they are supposed to be a tight fit.

Steps in replacing injector O-rings:
- Pour out a cup of clean gasoline (not much - just enough to soak the O-rings in.)
- Throw in the O-rings.
- Remove the fuel rail
- Remove the fuel injectors
- Remove the old O-rings from the injector.
- Inspect the sockets in the fuel rail and intake manifold, clean as necessary. Use caution when cleaning the manifold sockets, I usually do so with a brush in one hand an the Shop-Vac hose in the other.
- Remove the O-rings from the fuel, install on the injectors.
- Install the injectors
- Install the fuel rail.

Yes, this means that your O-rings will spend at least an hour sitting in the fuel, soaking. This is a good thing - since it helps to make the rupper slippery and pliant (also makes it easier to put the O-rings on the injector without scuffing or cracking them.)

That's the best lubrication I've found for them to date.

i use parker o-lube...its basically petroleum jelly (you can use that too). never had an issue with that. it does take a lot more ummph to get the new orings to seat cause they arent all shrivelled up and hard like the old ones....you'll get it.

Also, get your Dremel out and use the copper round wire brush end. Clean the ports on the intake and also on the fuel rail.

I use the same lube I use on my swimming pool O-Rings. Little dab on a brush and swirl it around in all the holes you just cleaned out. Just be careful not to use too much.

Injectors pop right in and out without having to pull super hard.
