I bought a front brake spring hardware kit for my 99 XJ. My front brakes are currently NOT running a spring kit, possible contributing to some brake squeeking. Rotors and pads are 1 year old, in decent shape. My caliper bolts/pins are all rust free and I replaced the boots with the kit.
Looking at the springs, I can't figure out for the life of me, how they fit.
Anyone have the factory front caliper brake springs installed that could post a picture? I Google'd my but off and found nada. Thank you!

Are you talking about the spring/clip on the inboard pad that holds it into the caliper piston?
Most pads come with those on them, do you have a pic or something of what you have?
or the rail shims/anti rattle clips?

Hahaha I've had the exact same problem before. I just didn't put it on. The only time I noticed it was when it got full of mud and would make.a knocking noise at low speeds only. As soon as I got up to speed and it cleared out I never heard anything.

I know if you talking about is it a little clip that holds the pads apart. last time I replaced my pads they broke I just put back together without them okay still squeaking is all I have. kind of annoying but doesn't really affect the brakes.

Ive never used those except on older cars and renix jeeps. I too sometimes get a squeak from the breaks with light pedal pressure from mud/sand/whatever getting embedded in the pad. I do a few hard breaking sessions to the point I start getting brake fad and it clears it up. Hardly ever use my brakes so never been much of an issue

Those things are odd, the anti squeak clips I've used are in little increments .020 .030 ect (not sure if those are the sizes but you get the idea) and they clip right onto the pad ears themselves, you just feeler gauge the space between the pad and knuckle slide, and pick your size out of the bag decided from the instructions.
They came with the last set of pads I purchased which were Wagner thermoquiet ceramics I believe. They have kept them quiet so far.
Just another option to look into for those interested.
