I started with the chisel technique and ended with this.

You're right. It was a bad mistake.

Time for a grinder.

He sure is!!!
All I have to say is good luck on trying to get them off now! Looks like you will be having to look for a new wheel when you are done.

Air hammer with a chisel bit. No sweat. Done a few of them because of those capped lugs. Or pull the axle providing it still has drums and cut the back of the stud off.

I had the same thought. The stud will be cashed anyway.

Did you know if the lug nut is missing the cheap tin cover you can use an 18mm socket to remove the nut?

This is why I bought new lug nuts after buying my XJ. No caps to worry about.

All of my caps have broken off except for two. I need to change sockets when torquing those. I hate those little caps!!

X2 -drill out the remainder of the nut first (multiple drill holes to remove material). Then hopefully you can hit the lug stud hard with a center punch and push it out the back (they're just pressed in from the other side but will be in there tight). Probably the nut will eventually break apart. Don't damage your wheels though!

Then you'll need to buy new studs. You might want to replace all of the studs once you've got the wheels and brakes apart -same effort to do one or five.

Centerpunch the stud. Drill till the nut comes off. Replace the stud.

To the OP: Quit making multiple posts on this. Get off the keyboard, go out there, and go to work.

Your dang computer or phone is not going to do it for you.

And we don't make house calls.
