I really need some help with this. I recently did an engine replacement on my 2001 XJ. Now my jeep will blow nothing but cold air. I live in Utah and it is freezing. Please any advise will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Fluid level? Does the engine achieve normal operating temp?

It gets all the way up to operating temp. And one is hot and the other is more warm.

Make sure the hoses are routed correctly, and not swapped. This can cause luke warm air to blow even at operating temps.

This--and while you're at it, back-flush the heater core with a garden hose for good measure. I had NO heat when I got my XJ due to the previous owner dumping mud in to seal the leaks. Back flushed the sewage out of it (after replacing the rest of the system) and I have heat again (but also a leaking heater core )

Sounds like your heater core is plugged up. I would back flush the heater core.

In Utah as well. Just got a '99 WJ.

Mine heats up, but not as much as I feel like it should.

Could this be a heater core issue as well?

What is the correct heater hose routing? How can I tell if they're reversed?

If you can't ever get it to work, get one of those 12v. electric heaters that plug into your lighter outlet.

Chances are the core is plugged as noted.

For the giggles tho, make sure your blend door is in the heated poision. The cable on mine was pretty stretched, so I disconnected it for now and manualy flip to hot or cold. Its on under the dash, left hand side of the passanger side.

Before you dig into that, let it get up to temp and feel both hoses coming out of the heater core. If they're both hot, that would be a good indication of a blend door issue.

He already described his hoses as one hot, one warm.

Dig in? lol, it will take long to pull the hood release and prop up versus checking the door?

Woops, totally missed that post. I thought that scoping out the blend door involved digging into the dash.

not at all, I've gotten so used to it I can adjusted while driving. it's right there just a little to the right behind the center console (reaching from the driver's seat)

The OP is dealing with a 2001 XJ which has an electically operated Blend-Air Door.
