I'm installng an aftermarket electical cooling fan to replace my mechanical fan. Question is does anyone know where I could find a switched (ignition) wire near the battery on a 1997 XJ?

 

Be very cautious about replacing the mechanical fan with a aftermarket efan. The mechanical fan is the main fan. Do your homework. What CFM rating is the aftermarket efan? I'm not aware of a aftermarket efan (same diameter as OE efan) that is as potent as the OE factory efan and the OE factory mechanical fan will pull way more air than the OE factory efan at just above idle speed.

 

It's the exact one as the drivers side.

 

DJB is correct, you may not have enough air movement with that set up. I have two Flex-cool fans ( something like 1280cfm each if memory serves ) but I also have a 3 row radiator.
To answer your other question, your power dist. box is inches from the batt. or you can use the same power as the first fan. You can even use an adjustable thermo switch it on/off as needed.
