I have a 94 Cherokee Sport 4.0, recently my ignition has been giving me issue whereas when I put the key in to start, it will stay locked almost like I dont have a key in the tumbler. It would do it on and off for about a week and just the other day it finally broke completely, I couldnt turn the key at all once it was in the ignition, I pressed really hard on it to get it to rotate and something let lose because now I can turn the key and it works everytime. The problem now is that it's difficult to turn from off to on and when i turn it to start, i have to put a lot of pressure on it to get it to engage the starter, it has to go all the way to the end of its travel to start. I thought at first that the actual tumbler itself was broken, so I just pulled the wheel off and everything and replaced the tumbler, yet I still have the problem. Is there any other type of linkage in the column or some other piece that could have broken causing this problem? Thanks.

But now I've got something else, I noticed there are two rods that travel down the steering column, one obviously for the ignition switch and the other, I have found out is for the high beams. I wasn't paying attention when I pulled the beam selector one out and have no idea where it goes back in at the top or bottom of the column.
