Default Ignition Not Sending Signal To Starter Relay

I can jumpstart my starter by bypassing the starter relay and inserting a 12v signal right into the slot for terminal 87 on the relay (I am currently doing this to start my jeep using the 12v signal from the accessory wire on my radio and a push button switch in the cab). The relay itself is good. Grounds and main power signal to and from the relay are good. It appears the culprit is that the relay isn't getting a good signal from the ignition to close the switch and make the connection from terminal 30 to 87. What are the most common causes and solutions to a bad signal from the ignition? I understand it could be anywhere in the electrical system from the key to the computer to the relay box. Trying to figure out what's the best place to start, and if it's worth even trying to track down vs. just keeping the push button bypass.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Sounds like you verified the NSS is grounding the 85 socket>

If you hold the key over, and jiggle the shifter in park or neutral and it starts, it's your NSS. http://bc4x4.com/tech/2010/jeep-neut...ty-switch-nss/
