Just bought a 1998 jeep cherokee from a guy a couple beers short of a six-pack who told me he wired the starter to a push button because it provides more power to it. Im not a fan of having a push button start jeep so can anyone help point me in the right direction of where to even start wiring it back into the ignition??? Thanks

Does your key work also?
Assuming its automatic, if your key doesn't work to crank it in park try it in neutral.
One reason to add a start button is a faulty Neutral Safety switch. Diagnose and fix it and you wont need the button.

It could be as simple as a bad ignition switch. My 00 TJ got progressively harder to start, while the other key positions worked fine, when my ignition switch wore out.
If the NSS is OK, I'd check the ignition switch next.
