Default still confused...helppp!

ok for a while i thought my 90 xj was locked into four wheel drive. i thought this bc when i put it in 2 wheel drive it just kind of reved up. it seemed like maybe it was tryin to go but couldnt. well yesterday i decided to go ahead and almost floor it and it actually started movin. it took about 2500-3000 rpm's to get it rollin and it stayed around that just going about 5 miles n hour. obviously this isnt good but i have NO idea whats causing this or what to look for. also theres a 5 inch lift and 33's. dont know if that has nething to do with it. (doubt it) any help is much appreciated! thanks guys

sounds like your tranny's slipping badly.

Have you checked the tranny fluid?

If it moves in 4WD but not in 2WD then it sounds more like a bad transfercase.

Trans fluid level or torque converter maybe.
