Ignition Cylinder Crisis
How do I remove my ignition cylinder if it is in the locked position? It will not move back to AUX or forward to start the vehicle. Key is NOT stuck in ignition. My understanding is that in this position it will not release. Not interested in diagnosis (13 years old, worn out!) and have a replacement part with keys in hand. I just need to get the old one out. Have already removed cover on the column and the plastic "ring" around the cylinder. Vehicle is currently disabled and needs to be moved ASAP. 2001. Thanks, guys

Update-no longer crisis, now just ticking me off
ok, after a little wd-40 and some "tough love" (a few whacks w/ a hammer), I got her to crank. Guess that unstuck whatever was stuck and at least she's home. NOW!, per everything I can find to read and YouTube video I can find to watch, putting the key in the ACC position and pressing the "release" on the bottom of the cylinder should disengage it and it should slide right out, right? Not happening. Any ideas? The only variable in play is I did notice that my steering wheel does not lock when rotated with the engine off. And that could be irrelevant but it's the ONLY other thing that seems odd (aside from the fact that the key won't turn). Am I dealing with something other than a bad ignition lock cylinder?
