idle stays at 3500rpm upon start up!! 89 RENIX
today when i started the truck idle went up to 3500rpm! i turn off the jeep and started again and its all normal... i drive around for a bit turn off and turn it back on and again up to 3500.. i tried revving and redlining but the idle wont come down.. i have to turn off and on a few times then i get the normal idle
what do i do to fix it?

Check your throttle linkage leading to the throttle body for starters. Try thoroughly spraying it with carb cleaner.
Other possibilities include the idle air control and throttle position sensor.
