Default Idiots guide to U-joint replacement

I searched but could not find instructions on how to do rear driveshaft u-joints. This is a task I have never done and could use some "Idiot's Guide to Replacing Your U-Joints" advise.

Rent the proper pressing tool (Or get it from the parts store when you get the U-joint) and it will be MUCH simpler.

its easy....remove the retaining straps holding the DS to the rear yolk.
remove the drive shaft
use a clamp and two sockets to press the u joint caps out, after removing the retaining clips/rings first
use can also use a vise and two sockets.

The best way is to use a u-joint tool, or as stated above a clamp and some sockets. If you don't have a clamp or u-joint tool available you can remove one by placing a sock or rag over one of the sides of the u-joint and beat on it with a hammer.

Amen to the proper tool. Did mine Sunday after making a trip to Harbor Freight. They have a good one for $49.99.
Made the job a breeze.
