Default Ideal oil pressure

Anybody know what the oil pressure range should be at, like at idle and at some RPM's?

98 XJ with 150,000 miles

Well, my '91 (after lettin the oil warm up and get past that start-up pressure) it usually idles at about 25 psi and then during acceleration gets to a max of about 45 psi. This always seemed normal to me. What is yours normally doing?

lol... I get 20psi at 55mph and ~15 idle... one of these days I gotta get a mechanical and see if its right. (15w40 Valvoline Maxlife, 15w40 superduty diesel in 500 mi)

My girlfriends 96 runs ~60PSI at 70mph (10w30 Pennzoil HM)

Idle and drive at about 40. When going around curves it drops a bit.

'99 4.0. drives at 50-60 psi, idles at 30-40 psi. a good rule of thumb is not to trust the stock oil pressure gauge too much. so i've heard.

I would assume it would help if everyone was saying what type and weight of oil they were using.

I have had an issue with mine that I have yet to be resolved too. Nothing has happened thus far but mine stays basically all the way at 80 90% of the time. I dont know why. When I accelerate it pegs the top. Not sure why.

Was that in regards to the original poster or to my reply?

interesting range of pressures here.

At idle I get about 25 and with a little throttle I hit about 50 ish but spend plenty of time in the 40's

Just thought I would ask to make sure that isn;t some sort of issue I need to look at.

Thanks for the great response!
