Post IAT Relocation

Does relocation of the IAT sensor and less restriction to the airbox improve mileage at all or is there other modifications that should be done in conjunction with it.....

Improving intake airflow and exhaust flow, will improve mileage if you can keep your foot out of it.
Iat relocation does not necessarily improve mileage, but will improve performance a bit, probably not enough to feel in the seat. But it is a good mod because the stock location sucks.

Your mileage may vary. You probably won't notice a difference with the move, but it will eventually add up over hundreds of tank fills. The best mods are the ones you never notice doing their job.

Tell that to Paxton, Garrett, rubicon express, and rough country.

I originally did this mod and made a write-up about it, over 2yrs ago.

Never did a follow-up.
Why?
No-one had any interest in it at the time.
But, I will give my personal findings on the credibility of this mod.

This is a "warm weather" mod.
The 4.0L will have slightly noticable HP gains in HOT weather as the IAT will be giving a more accurate air temperature reading instead of the overall temperature of the usually "runnin hot" motor.

If used in COLD weather the results will be horrific. MPG will drop drastically and the HP will be in the toilet.

Recommendation: Run TWO IAT's. I do
ONE connector.
Cold weather (Lower than 80*)-> connect it to the IAT mounted in the intake.
HOT weather (80*+)-> connect it to the airbox mounted IAT.

But hey, nobody listens to me anyway. So, find out on your own

It may not pass a visual inspection but like a previous poster said leave the stock one in and switch it back before a smog. California sends vehicles to shops with known visual inspection issues and have hidden cameras to catch a smog person not doing their job. I have a friend that was busted once and was put on probation if he got caught again he would lose his license. So smog techs are careful to say the least.
