Go with 4.56 so you don't have to do it again if you go to 33"s.

When I regear, I'm getting 4.88's, I have 33"s, but I'm adding lots of armor and maybe 35"s later on. But I'm doing a Ford 8.8 in the rear.

Can't speak from personal experience, but I've always heard the numerically higher the gearset, the more prone to breakage. I've read here or somewhere that with the D30 and D35 4.10 is about as high as you want to go.

Hopefully someone with real world experience will chime in here.

not true, it all depends on tire size, put big tires on and you'll get better city/town milage than you would with stock gears b/c its not as hard to get it moving and, if your good at math you can find engine cruising rpm with gear ratio and tire size to put you at stock cruisng rpm

Wrong. 4.10 is the recommended gear ratio for 31" tires. If you had 35"s, you want 4.88.

Headers
If you want more HP for the Cherokee, some people don't realize you can get headers: http://www.cliffordperformance.net/M...gory_Code=J258

I think Borla makes them as well. That should bump up the HP a bit.

Quote: If I have been told correctly the stroker puts a new cam shaft in the engine which allows your pistons to go up and down farther this combined with larger cylinders and pistons and all the other upgrades needed when stroking usually makes your 4.0 into a 4.7
easy term bigger stroke so more fuel in chambers so bigger combution. and you can stroke a 4.0 any were from a 4.2 all the way up to a 5.0.

Quote: well i want to be around like 250hp HA! so i was thinkin a Cold air intake that would put me at like 210 but i would like to still get somewhat decent gas milage....?
hahahaha you wont get that form an intake you can get an intake, throttle body, throttle body spacer, full exhaust, headers, and chips, then you will get good gas and be making some good horse power but none of that is cheap. my intake was like 330 from AEM

You're definitely right about that! I think mine came with 177 hp stock, but since I bought it just a year ago, I'm just now getting to "some" of the things necessary to beef up hp. Just recieved my Flowmaster Super-40 muffler and my best guess is that I'll get no more than about 6-8 hp increase. Throw on the intake and it's worth about the same, depending on design. Don't forget the high perf cat conv. (Magnaflow?). It was the same when I had my camaro and firebird - it's all about making the engine breathe, burn fuel, and exhaust. All of it together is where you'll notice the big difference... for a price. But again, if you put a spoiler on the roof, it will increase it by 50! Hahahaha! (J/k of course)
