Yes... Lol
Jeeps are not that complicated. The difference between 2WD and 4WD transmissions is the output shaft and a tail extension housing to support it.

Yep, should.
What you need to verify is:
- Transmission is compatible. See here for the AW4: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1053970
- Gear ratios of axles are the same (all 4.0L AW4s shipped with 3.55:1 post-1988)
- Drive shaft must be matched to the axle and year transfer case
So if this 1994 is a 4.0L AW4 XJ, the transmission will work with your 1996's TCU. It would have either a D35 or ****ty 27-spline C8.25 with 3.55:1 ratio. If it has a D35 and you want to use your existing C8.25, you'll need to lift your XJ, or the DS will be too long and bottom out the slip yoke. Otherwise you must stick with the D35.

I appreciate all the responses . My xj is lifted 3" on 31s. How do I find out the gear ratio of my rear end ? And the 94 turned out to be a bust . Will keep this thread updated and post again soon when I find another suitable donor .
