I'm with Anthony........use the C clamp to push the piston back into the bore of the caliper while the old nasty pads are still on and before you even take anything apart. That way you're not beating on it to get the caliper off the rotor and you definitely won't have to beat on it to get the caliper back on the rotor with the new thicker pads. I always take the lid off the master cylinder, too. Not sure if you have to. I was taught that waaaaaaaaaay back in the day. You absolutely don't have to remove the brake lines from the caliper. That is a MESSY extra step that is not necessary.
