Quick fix is to move the shift fork over (I just did a writeup yesterday), or turn the actuator around.
Passengers side front axle shaft, rear of it. 4 11mm bolts and three vacuum lines. Take the lines off, loosen the bolts (about 6 ounces of gear oil will run out). Jack your tire up, and rotate it till you can line the splines up. Move the shift collar to the "locked" position. You will know you have it right if the driveshaft spins when you rotate the tire. Flip the actuator over (the vaccum canister will now be facing the drivers side) Line the shift fork up with the collar, install the 4 bolts and now you have 4wd that works..
(no guarantees, I havent done it But its been mentioned before. All I did was remove teh c-clip and slide the fork over, but I dont think you can do that on the roadside)
Is this perminet? If not what will take to do it all right? New point ect.

That picture I posted is the actuator, Its a simple enough job to change it. I just dont have them money (138 bucks +shipping) and am not too thrilled of my 4wd being reliant on a rubber diaphragm.
Here is that link, Its supposed to be a "temporary" fix but Ive heard of people going like this for years. I did mine yesterday and so far no problems up to 55mph.

dont go send him to get a 130 dollar part before he checks for vaccum.
on front axle there is an actuator on the right almost to the tire. engage 4x4 sould have vaccum when 4x4 is on. if u have none there is a switch on the t-case hase 3 hoses on it that opens when its in 4x4. replace that if no vaccum is present. will get a pic in a min

sorry defiance no offense intended.

on driver side by the front driveshaft output on the transfer case. this can get seized up and not actuate the front drive. but check for vacuum first.but defiance's bypass writeup is a great solution as the newer ones do not have this and are always engaged. good write up defiance.

I'm guessing the vacum would be a little easier then what you were just saying any more detail about the output. what parts may be needed what would this cost any idea at all. THANK YOU EVERYONE for so much help i really needed it and it is extremely appreciated.

sorry for the confusion do what defiance recommends. its free to do and is 100% ok to leave like this forever. i got confused with the part link i thought
he suggested just to buy it. you can do what defiance has done and did a write up for, or if you like the oem way check at the actuator at the axle for vaccum when in 4x4. just pull the line off youll here a hiss and the engine will rev up to compensate. the hoses are connected to the actuator. if it doesnt have it replace the switch 15 dollars and 40 mins, if it has vaccum replace the actuator $112 same 40 mins. and either way it will work and be done with. if u need any help were all here for ya.

Yes there is.

Pull the cover
Slide the collar over to lock the shafts together
Put a hoseclamp around the shaft to keep the collar from sliding back
Put the cover plate back on.

It'll get ya home.
