I need help please stuck in my jeep.
I am currently in my jeep waiting to get picked up off the side of the road. i've read that in a stock front axle if one tire slips it cuts power to both front wheels is this true? I also was woundering if this is true, when i got out to cheack everythng out so it was in park having the girlfreind drive and the jeep, she started hitting the gas and the front wheels didn't attempt to even spin is this normal? If its not what is the fix any and all ideas please. i need to have a car or i could loose my job and be snowed in here for days i'm freaking out please anyone and everyone help.

no this is not true. open diff. power will go to the wheel with the least traction. if neither of the front wheels is pulling, make sure it is fully engaged in 4hi or low. what year is your jeep and do you know what transfer case you have?

Front CAD assembly... The vacuum actuator isnt moving over, therefore your front tires will not spin.
Quick fix is to move the shift fork over (I just did a writeup yesterday), or turn the actuator around.
Passengers side front axle shaft, rear of it. 4 11mm bolts and three vacuum lines. Take the lines off, loosen the bolts (about 6 ounces of gear oil will run out). Jack your tire up, and rotate it till you can line the splines up. Move the shift collar to the "locked" position. You will know you have it right if the driveshaft spins when you rotate the tire. Flip the actuator over (the vaccum canister will now be facing the drivers side) Line the shift fork up with the collar, install the 4 bolts and now you have 4wd that works..
(no guarantees, I havent done it But its been mentioned before. All I did was remove teh c-clip and slide the fork over, but I dont think you can do that on the roadside)

actuator... probably. no roadside fix.
are you sure that it's even going into 4wd? will the rear tires spin slower when you put it into 4wd low?

My 4wheel is in according to the lever. I checked the other day and when I put it in 4 the drive shafts turned don't know if this means any thing I am picked by my girl friends mom now I want and need this fixed asap. Thank you all so much for the help thus far. Does all this mean something is broken. I have no idea what an actuator is. Thank you

vac canister on right side of front axle. shifts collar in front axle to lock the shafts and engage front axle. if your drive shafts are turning then the trans case is working.

when you're in 4wd low, your gear is reduced so, the tire doesn't spin as fast. it might be a basic indicator that your shifter is actually doing something.

the vaccum hose has a tendency to fall off or get pulled off. you will not notice it until you need the 4x4. take a look under the passenger side and see if it is hooked up.

Is this my actuator? I would love the link please. Are these vacum lines the things that lock my front wheels? Could it be both. Any other possibilities? I'm skipping class tomorrow to work on it
