Default I made a stupid mistake and need help

I was taking the sound bar out of my 95 because I was taking out my headliner. I cut the wires behind the sound bar because i didnt think i needed them anymore and now my gas gauge doesn't work. I read somewhere that one of the wire(s) is for the gauge. Does anybody know what color wire goes to the gauge? And once I find out what wire it is what should i do with it? Ground it?

The wires for the fuel gauge are under the thresholds and rear seat. You probably cut through a live wire and blew a fuse.

I agree, I took my sound bar out and replaced all my speakers and everything on my '95 and I dont remember any other wiring up there, just the speaker and cargo light wires.

Can't you find the wires you cut?

What are the colors of those wires?

Don't just ground it. Each wire has its purpose and its circuit must be intact for it to function.

You should NEVER cut anything off of a factory wire harness just because you think you don't need those wires. Smooth move ex lax.

X2...first things first, DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY...repair the wires you cut, check your fuses, and reconnect. Fairly straightforward...

Are you trying to burn down your Jeep????

Where in the world did you get the idea that you should ground random wires?

Don't ever ground any wire unless you know for certain where it goes and how it works.

If you have a random wire and you don't know what to do with it, the LAST thing you'd want to do is ground it!

There are really only two things that make sense to do with an unknown wire:

  1. Learn what it is, and do the right thing with it.
  2. Insulate it so it cannot ground itself or contact any other circuit.
