Look at the back of the rear diff cover, does it have any flat part on the bottom? If yes, its the 8.25, no its the d35. This is the 8.25.

they dont make a 35 for the front its a d30. the rear is ether a 35 or a 8.25 the 825 has a flat spot on the bottom and the top of the diff cover the 35 cover is oval

Another way to tell is the cover bolts are evenly spaced on an 8-1/4. On a D-35 the two bolts at 10 & 11 O'clock are closer together.

strength. plain and simple. the 8.25 with 29 spline shafts is comparable to a dana 44. the 35 is refered to as the Turdy-five for the fact that it is a weak axle... if you park next to a jeep with the 8.25 you will see how much smaller the axle tubes are.

like look at how the pinion is very well built

ahh, i see. i knew it was something like that just wasnt for sure, but im just now gettin into jeeps alot more, i got two of em. and thats all i ever owned. i know quite a bit just by being around im still learnin the little things. i also need advice on roof racks. the one thats on my jeep now is kinda stupid really, but i havent seen anything else like it. whats everyone runnin? mine is pretty cool. its got 4 u shaped bolts and it bolted to the cross bars on the top. in the center its got a plate thats threaded. put the center of ur tire over that plate and there is a shaft that screws down into that plate to hold the tire in place. then its got a square piece that screws on top on that shaft and ur 4-way goes on top of it and then a round lockin deal that clips over that square piece all down inside ur wheel locks and unlocks with key. its neat. ill post a pic so yall can see what i mean. but i just am startin to not like it. ive put lock nuts on everything and all, and its just a head ache cant really keep everything tight.

wait. what exactly are you asking? keeping what tight?

if you are talking about the u-bolts. get some red locktite, and a jam nut. Red locktite the first nut and crank it down. Then red locktite the jam nut and lock it down tight onto the first nut. You wont have an issue after that.

also it looks like your allthread piece is digging into your roof.....

also flip your tire over so the mounting surface is higher up so you can lock it down easier
