i am not sure what little clips you are referring too. there is no clips in the brake pads that was bought and i didn't remove any.
odd thing is the noise seems to be going away on the cheap pads the more i drive it.
at first it was just like the more expensive pads, but last night on the way to work it seemed every time i put on the brakes i could hear it less and less. and not half of the time i can't hear it at all.
maybe its just the rotor needing to be broke in. i can't recall if i had a similar deal when i had the rotors and brakes replaced on my 81 impala, thats the only vehicle other than the jeep i've ever had the rotors replaced on.
the vehicle brakes just fine, no pulsating or pulling or anything like that even when it was making the noise loud thats the only symptom there was.
so if its completly gone after a few days i am not going to worry about the calipers and hoses, don't need to fix it if it ain't broken.
as for the oil leak i am not convinced there is one. i've got to get under the vehicle at least partially today or tomorrow and try to clean everything up some and see if i get any more leaking. i forgot my cardboard from work to put under the vehicle, damn just wanting to leave after working over for free.

The clips came with the Jeep when it was new.
Missing ones could be your rattle problem.
Get some off a salvage yard Jeep and put them on yours. Cheap fix. It needs them anyway.

If new pads and rotors needed to be broken in, all new cars would clunk like your Jeep does.
Obviously they don't. So something is still wrong. Ignore it at your own peril.
Oh, wait a minute. You're not the only one on the road, are you? There are other drivers depending on you to keep your vehicle in a safe condition so you can stop. And not hit them.
Fix it right. The life you save may be your own.
Or a vanload of kids.

well other than seeing if it requires or has the clips and putting them on i at this point wouldn't know how to determine what the problem is or if its still there.
but looking at the picture i don't see where the clips could even fit on my caliper there is no open stop at the top where the pin is in the picture its solid, the only open spots are by the center like in the picture and even then its not as large as in the picture.
brand new calipers don't come with them.
i've done brakes on the jeep before (not the rotor though)
done brake pads on my mothers escort and a few pairs on my ford econoline i had
if i hadn't know of the problems and i just took a look at them and such i would not even know there had been an issue.
everything appears to be 100% correct on them. the pads sit nice and snug they don't move that i can get them to do. they lock in on the caliper like they should.
the braking seems to be better now with new pads and rotors than before when the pads was worn down and the rotor was at the end of its life.

just to be sure i have the right part in mind, those are the pins that the bolts go through that keep the caliper on?
if so they hadn't been until my last time i did the brakes, which i didn't even think of until you just mentioned it i just decided to use all the lube i had so i lubed up anything that moved and the rubber casing or cover moved so i pulled it back and lubed it.
so maybe that worked its way in and lubed everything which caused the noise to stop after a couple of days.
but i've looked online for where i would put the rattle clips and i haven't found any information. i found where i can buy some (only seems online or possible as firestorm said a salvage yard) but unlike in his picture my calipers does not have any openings or holes at the top/bottom of the caliper.

Let's put it this way, a dealership will charge you FIVE hours labor ($750) JUST to remove the exhaust manifold. This guy is basically working for free. And you have the nerve to complain. Amazing. Dealership would charge you $150 just to change the liftgates.

Bimmer, notice the mechanic he used has done all of this stuff to his Jeep with nothing more than hand tools and blue collar strength.
