maybe... I hope it does, but a problem...
some sort of a high pitch squeal coming from the front axle.
I can't even pin it down, like a dust shield was rubbing on the rotor.
agrrrr

Just finished reading the whole thread. Nice Jeep, and nice work you've done to it!
Just a couple of quick thoughts/questions...
The first question is about your engine. I took a long look at the pictures, and even downloaded them to play with the brightness/colour settings, but I couldn't see spark plug wires... Does your Jeep have the good old dizzy and wire setup? Or does it have the coil-on-plug system? If it does have the coil-on-plug, then you may have the 0331 cylinder head. (AFAIK none of the older heads have mounting provisions for bolting on the rail for the coil packs.) I'm hoping I just missed the plug wires.
The second question was about the report you got back from the shop. It mentioned that you needed all of the fluids changed, but, haven't you recently changed both the oil and coolant? IIRC the oil has less than 900 kms on it, and you swapped t-stats and water pump... Mind you, I could just be getting mixed up. Lack of sleep and a slightly bent brain make for wonderfully fun mix-ups at times. (Fun for the whole family!
)
Also, a few questions about this new squeal... Is it a steady, loud sound? Is it rhythmic/pulsing? Is it soft, or piercing? I know I've had a LOT of dust shield issues, often I either remove them entirely or wind up smashing the crap out of them after several failed attempts to 'massage' it into a sound-free position.
I'm looking forward to seeing how your Jeep changes, and what modifications you make to it.

Just a couple of quick thoughts/questions...sure thing
The first question is about your engine. I took a long look at the pictures, and even downloaded them to play with the brightness/colour settings, but I couldn't see spark plug wires... Does your Jeep have the good old dizzy and wire setup?Yes it does Or does it have the coil-on-plug system?no If it does have the coil-on-plug, then you may have the 0331 cylinder head.thankfully not. (AFAIK none of the older heads have mounting provisions for bolting on the rail for the coil packs.) I'm hoping I just missed the plug wires.you missed it
The second question was about the report you got back from the shop. It mentioned that you needed all of the fluids changed, but, haven't you recently changed both the oil and coolant?oil has been changed twice and coolant has been very thoroughly flushed, I'll be doing the axles this week and in the next day or so the brake fluid flush. Once for the trans drain/ fill. IIRC the oil has less than 900 kms on it, and you swapped t-stats and water pump... Mind you, I could just be getting mixed up. Lack of sleep and a slightly bent brain make for wonderfully fun mix-ups at times. (Fun for the whole family!
)over-kill is sometimes good

I know I've had a LOT of dust shield issues, often I either remove them entirely or wind up smashing the crap out of them after several failed attempts to 'massage' it into a sound-free position. seems to be coming and going, sounds like dust shields screaching- even pulled them away from the rotors with no luck.

hopefully I answered some of your questions.

Since I'm no long a fan of flashy things, I decided to paint the Hella covers semi-flat black tonight.
I'll get some pictures tomorrow, but WOW! what a difference... It's much nicer looking without two HUGE WHITE circles on the front. Was such an eye soar.
Glad I did it, even if you guys think other wise.
