what do you mean, not gonna be fast? my stock 98 with235k miles on it will outrun my friends 1991 acura integra that is riced out.
of course a cherokee will never be mustang/camero or corvette fast. but they are fast enough to be fun.

Than his teggy is dead grandma slow, jeeps are grandma slow. Mustangs, camaros and vettes arent necessarily fast. Unless were talking 8 sec 5.0, WS6 or a Z
Stroke it, it wont be fast, but low end will increase dramatically.

Buy a Mustang or a Camaro if you want to go fast, an XJ was never built for speed. They're kind of like the shopping cart with a bad wheel at high speeds. I would bet money on the fact that about 98% of the people that post on this forum asking how to go faster in a 15 year old XJ are under the age of 23. When the public sees some jackhole speeding around in a loud and muddy 4x4, it makes all of us in 4x4s look bad.

Yep, play to your strengths!
If you want to go fast for not much money get a BMW E30 and stick a stupid engine in it. People will be just as surprised, and you'll have a better chance of staying upright
Jeeps are great all rounders and quick off the mark (especially in 4FT) but you can't really call them fast.

I mean, I won't lie. Im 18, but when I talk about my XJ being "fast", I usually refer to those little off-the-line moments where Honda ricers wanna try and pass me where theyre not supposed to because they think my XJ is slow. Otherwise, I brag about how my Cherokee can crawl all over nearly all of my friend's trucks lol.

"Fast" is a relative term.
My XJ can beat Porches, Corvettes, and Ferraris all day long.
But... I get to pick the track.
Usually something with a lot of mud, rocks, bumps, or jumps...
