HP Dana 30 R&P Install
Im installing a new ring and pinion along with all the bearings, I have it all dissassembled, behind the inner pinion bearing race is a thin metal spacer, I tried to locate this part in the catalogs but cannot find it, I cannot get the old inner bearing race out because of this piece, I don't want to destroy this peiece without being able to get a new one.
Can someone help me Identify this piece, it is NOT the oil slinger, this piece is behine the pinion bearing race

Its not any kind of shim, the shims are on the other side. and the shims are small than this piece
I think Frankz gave the possible answer.
I just dont know how to go about taking it out, I need to use a punch on the other side so I can punch out the old race, but I would have to punch on this and its already making marks on it. I am pretty sure if I continue I will mess this thing up. I would n't care but I can not seem to find any replacements
any help on replacements?????

Do you have a welder? If so I had some races I had to replace in the front end of GMC trucks that were hard to get out. What I did was cut the head off a spare bolt and cut it to length to go across the race. I welded the bolt to the race and welded around the race on the inside to shrink it. With the bolt welded across the race it gives you a place you can hit on through the hole to pound it out.

I will probaly research this a couple of days, if I can't find any resolution I will just use the old races with the old bearings, I really dont want to do this, I already have all the new stuff sitting here

I do have a welder, that is an option, thanks for the idea
Keep em coming
Yeah I would give it a try. These races were the same way. No way to hit them from the back side and no room to get a puller on it. Just take your time welding it and with a few good hits it will come out. I fought with about the first two trucks getting them out until I figured out this was a lot easier option.
Pinion depth shims on a D30 go under the race, but the part the OP is refering to is an Oil Baffle
It's a very important part of an HP D30 or HP D44. Without it the bearing may become oil starved and fail.
I use a homebrew tool (a piece of pipe) and a 4 pound Engineers Hammer to gently tap the baffle and race out.

Im going to try to find a perfect fit piece of pipe and try that
Just googled inner oil baffle for dana 30 and it came up, thanks everyone, im going to order one for piece of mind, now I can really break out the hammer
