hp dana 30 to lp dana 30
I need to rebuild my hp dana 30 so I bought a lp dana 30 out of a 2001 cherokee to throw under my truck so I can still drive and most importantly go in the woods. My question is with switching to a lp will this afect my drive shaft angle much? I have about 6 to 7 inches of lift on my xj. I know with the lp I have less clearance but I live in nj and there is only mud where I live no rocks so I don't have to worry to much on hitting my pinion on something hard.

Another thing to consider is to make sure the driveshaft is long enough. I think it would all be fine, just keep it in the back of your head you're setup is not optimal, until the HP30 is back in.

I swapped mine out for a little while everything worked fine. But it did change the length of the drive shaft. I wheeled it with no mods and it was ok. Will be fine for what you are planning.

Drop your drive line and just don't wheel it till your hp is back. And hp Dana 30s have reverse set ring and pinion so the gears aren't interchangable. Just save a headache and don't hook it up

Yeah I'm just letting it sit till I got the money for a rough country longarm upgrade kit. After that gonna save up for new gears I found a kit online with 4.10 gears for my c8.25 and d30 hp plus complete rebuild kit for like 450 or so. That's what I gonna do then my truck will be back to normal. Only thing I'm wonderi8ng about rc says there long arm kit is only for 4 inch to 6 inch lifts I have around 7 I think. My buddy has a 01 xj with a 6 inch lift and 33's like me and I'm sitting alittle higher then him (about an inch) so I'm hoping the rc kit will work. Its all about the length of the long arms where it will only work with 4 to 6 inches of lift I'm thinking I have not read into why it only fits them lifts so I'm thinking my axle will still be pulled back alittle but nothing like it is now and anything will be better then what it is now.
