Default Transmission Mount Misbehaving

Hello, all!

I have a 1994 Cherokee SE, with the AX5 tranny. I'm having an issue, where I can't for the life of me fit an OE transmission mount back on, and have it match the holes in the cross member.

I've been debating drilling some new holes in the crossmember, but maybe I'm just not giving it enough oomph? The bolts are about 1 cm away from the holes.

This is maddening! Any ideas? Thanks!

Flip it 180 degrees...or yank on the tail cone...

What do you mean flip it 180 degrees? About the vertical axis? The mount seemed symmetric to me, but I'll give it a shot.

I'll also try yanking the transmission around. There's not a lot of clearance for which to gain leverage with a crow bar, but maybe from the engine bay I can work it into place?

Horizontal axis. Passenger end swapped for drivers. When mine is off, I usually flip it end for end if I haven't paid attention. I also have a smooth rolling jack under there, so things move around easier. Ive never needed a crow bar...good luck!

When I got a new tranny mount, I got a cheap one from advanced auto and it turned out that the threaded studs were a centimeter off from the original. But my new crossmember was also off a centimeter so I was lucky haha.
