How to stop running too rich

MAP sensor is easily cleaned woth TB cleaner. Takes five minutes lol, just be careful, it's plastic on the end you don't see.

Yours might be a bit different. Pretty sure my MAP sensor is the one with the electrical hookup. RENIX is probably different.

The map sensor on all Cherokees are up on the firewall with a vacuum line going to it. It's not cleanable. All you can do is check the line going to it for a leak and do an ohms test on it. In most cases if it's blowing black smoke smoke the map is the problem or the fuel pressure regulator is stuck closed.

Well, then wth is the sensor in the intake manifold, driver's side, with the electrical connection? I took it out, it's got a plastic cage surrounding an old-style blue capacitor-looking electronic component

If it is then that sensor riches or leans the mix depending on the air temp it reads. A lot of people relocate it to the air box which ie good.in he summer but drops some mileage in the winter. So in actual fact that does mess with the mixture.and if that little sucker malfunctions.it could.cause.rich running.
