Makes sense. Lol, maybe I could make "quick" fittings to relocate it depending on the weather...

My intake is strange. It's "snorkeled" but the only thing snorked is the intake on top of the motor. Rest of the lines are just hanging loose. Could that be a problem?

Make sure all of your vacuum lines are connected properly

Can someone post a picture for me? I need to see a stock airbox assembly. Also maybe highlight where the MAP sensor is?

There is one vacuum line going to the airbox. It comes from the little vacuum distribution thing.
Mines "modified" I haven't gotten around to fixing it up proper but I got rid of a bunch of those lines. I'm out on a job and that's the best pic for now but if you have an open vacuum line going to or coming from here block it off.

Here's my intake with all the little lines all over the place. Plugged all of those lines with birthday candles. It still smoked. What are these lines for? Where should they be?

Also there are no lines going to the MAP sensor that I can see. Just wires. (MAP is what that green connector plugs in to on the firewall, right?)

The line to your map comes from your throttle body. If it is disconnected you have a vacuum leak there

If that's not connected your XJ should be running like Bill Gates' bank account.

Man you need a vacuum diagram. Couldn't exactly tell ya without seeing it but a plugged vacuum line is always better than an open one.

So all of those lines are vacuum lines? the only thing that should be filtered and open is the main intake? what about the line coming off of the top of the head? behind it is the oil fill cap?
