Default How to put valve cover on.

So i was having the biggest problem getting my valve cover on, I finally got it on so I figured I'd share what to do so you dont get mad at your XJ.

1st break lose all the bolts on the valve cover. mine had 15.

2nd. remove ground nut and cable.

Attachment 29763

Attachment 29762

3rd. move clip up on radiator hose. i didnt have hose clamps so i just moved it up and the hose stayed in place and didnt leak.
Attachment 29760

Attachment 29761

4th. remove wire line on intake.

Unless you treat it gentler than a 90 year old hip, your CCV tube will break. They made them out of plastic for some reason, and they get brittle being under the hood with all the heat. Save yourself a headache and just buy a new one before you start. Or at the very least, unhook it from the intake and be mindful of it.

I just changed my CCV fittings, yup, they are just elbow fittings, with the back fitting taller by 1inch(near driver) & the front one is a short radius elbow(no neck). NAPA said they dont make this anymore so I installed the type of elbow as the one in the back. Yes be careful of that plastic tube,I broke it but I have to join them by a sleeve(1/4 inch or so I found in the garage & sealed it with RTV sealant). also, I partially tore the sleeve where you insert the elbow. everythings brittle I guess. By the way my CHerry is 2000,2wd,4 L.

I got mine at the dealership. Think was $13 for both elbows, the tube and 2 new grommets for the valve cover gasket.
