Default how much and what?

well im gettin a 93' Cherokee, its runs decently but it constantly over heats after 15 or so minutes of it running, even if driving.

it can sit idle for less than 5 mins before the temp. gauge goes into red.

so what im asking is, how much for a new motor, 4.0 liter high output because this one has just been sitting for too long ever since it started over heating.

and / or what else would i need and approx. costs, im a newbie when it comes too motors so any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks!

Probably wasn't a good idea to keep cooking the poor thing when you knew it had an issue, could of avoided needing a new engine lol. How do you know the engine is needing replaced, besides just wanting to overheat? Could just be a bad tstat or air in your system and problem solved without throwing a whole new engine in it. Assuming you haven't already, research your problem if you aren't 100% sure.

What makes you think you need a new motor exactly? Try replacing your waterpump,t stat, and cleaning out your radiator. If that doesn't fix it then its probably your head gaskets which aren't to hard to do.

ive changed the water pump and cleaned the radiator a couple times, ill check the heads...

i think the whole motor is just rusted and old and basically just needs a new motor i think, like money isnt an issue, so how much for a new one? i can easly put it in.

it still runs right now fairly, doesnt hold a charge for a **** but that isnt anything, but it runs really loud and high pitched now, almost like a rice burner and it sounds goofy haha.

Probably just your exhaust some where down the line, did it always sound like that? The manifolds on these crack 100% of the time, just a matter of when and that could be a factor.

That can be fixed, but isnt good if it is milky/foamy. I assume you are implying color instead of just the feel right?

How many heads and head gaskets do you folks have?

Cuz I've got the 4.0, it s has one head and one head gasket.

And if you can swap a motor you should be able to swap a head and save yourself TONS of money.
