I'm getting a new a/c compressor and I am wondering how much and what kind of oil it will need for a 2000 4.0/6 XJ. Do I add it right on the side bolt?

Get your old one and pour out the old oil, measure and put same amount back in. Some will come with oil in them also. As far as oil type this should be a r134a system ...and if so oil is a PAG oil compressor should say if its a 46 or 150. I think my 2000 when I did it while back was a 46.

Thanks, but I'll have to look up the correct amount. I've been driving on a replacement pulley (no compressor) and do not have it anymore.
But some guy did recommend that I pour the oil out of the new one as a way of seeing how much I am starting with.
