How much lift before transfer case drop is needed?
92 Cherokee auto
How much lift can you install on one before you have to drop the transfer case and everything else? I've read 4.5"-5" is find 6+" is pushing it. Has anyone had experience with this and knows for sure?
I'm just looking at springs or spring spacers and blocks. Nothing too fancy as this is a cheap jeep I use strictly for wheeling and does see some street use.

A lot of guys that I wheel with down here will twist the rear end so that it's facing more upwards to take some of the angle out of the driveshaft.
Has anyone ever done this?

There is no real defined answer to this question. Every jeep is defferent. I have a 3-4 inch lift and I have one (soon to be replaced with SYE). You will have to put on the lift and take it for a drive. If you can install a lift kit or do an oil change you can do the t case drop in about 10 min and 30 if your studs are siezed. As far as the pinion angle with the slip yoke the pinion angle should be parallel to the output shaft. If you google drive shaft set ups you will see why. Its hard to explain in type. The u joints need to counteract eachother so to speak.

Anything above 2" MIGHT need the transfer case lowered. You will not know until the vehicle in question has been lifted, tested, measured etc. I wouldnt be too concerned. If you end up needing to do it, as mentioned already, it is a very easy task.
