Default How much can I get?

Hello there,
I have a 2000, 4.0, 157,000 miles with a blown head gasket. I was just wondering what you thought would be the best way for me to go about getting rid of it. I've had it for 7 years, and it's killing me to let it go, but I can't spend the money to put a new engine in. Let me know of any other info needed. Donation? Seal it somehow/bring to a dealership? Parts? Scrap? Any input would be appreciated, Thank You

Are you sure you need a new engine? What kind of shape is the body in?

Head gasket replacement cost me less than 200 bucks...

You might need a head but you can get a rebuilt head for cheap. You're looking at no more than 500 bucks to fix it. IF that's the problem.

Replace the head gasket. It's not that difficult.

Where are you at?

I offer a free towing/junk removal service within a 400 mile radius.

You can get around $1000 for it, if it is 4x4.
Nobody knows, if it is gasket or cracked head problem.

Sounds like you could fix it. If just don't want to let me know. I would be interested if the body is in good shape. What part of the country are you located?

Thank you for your responses. The body is in good shape, a couple of small rust spots, I guess, but overall pretty nice. Yes, 4x4. The Jeep is 20 miles south of downtown Chicago. I would really like to fix it, but I can't sink more money into it at this point. Any input?

What price will make or break your decision?

How much can you afford to spend to fix it?

How do you know the head gasket is blown? What's it doing? What have you done to diagnose the problem.

What exactly IS the problem?

If the head gasket is just blown then you can buy a new head set for 60 bucks, pull the head and have the head reworked for around 120 bucks.

You'll have less than $200 in the repair.

If the head is cracked you can spend 200 bucks and get a reworked head and head set.

We really have no clue what's wrong.

What's it doing?

^^^^^^^^^ What he said.

If you are bound and determined to get rid of it, I think you could probably make more parting it out on this and a few other forums. It will just be more work taking it apart/running to post office.
