Haven`t checked on this thread in awhile..I`m amazed the voting has run about 50/50...I`ve kept an eye out lately and in the 5 surrounding large junkyards over the past several months I`ve yet to see a single manual Jeep

1998 4 door 4.0L 5 speed... Has any one ever heard why you can't pull a trailer heavier than 2000lbs with a stick? That is what it tells me in my manual but I want to rig it to pull a camper, what do I need to know and what do I need to do? First of all I ahve been told the clutch won't handle it, that is an easy fix but I want to know if there is anything else I need to know or do to get it pull'n ready.... Thanx for any help you folks can offer....
My Jeep has the original clutch in it, 170,000 miles on it, wheeled in tough terrain often, and I towed over 5000lbs from Maine to Arizona (tonne of mountains to get over) 3500 miles. I since towed 2000-3500lbs many times... and as mentioned, still on the factory original clutch.
Don't slip/ride the clutch, when shifting from gear to gear make sure the clutch is fully engaged, then apply power... just like driving a big rig... go easy on your equipment and you will not tear it up.

I even put a new clutch in it after my girlfriend learned to drive it
